Rogue Space Systems Corporation today announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Orbital Assembly Corporation (OAC), the world’s first large-scale space construction company, to lease Orbital Robot (Orbots™) for its gravity-enabled platforms.
Along with the MOU, Rogue has also received OAC’s initial payment for the services covered under the agreement, a major milestone for the industry. Rogue is the first US-based space startup to secure a paying commercial customer for this type of orbital services. This also accelerates OAC’s efforts to deliver critical service resources for upcoming missions. This mission will demonstrate the construction of gravity-enabled structures Success will clearly demonstrate Orbital Assembly’s construction capabilities facilitated with Rogue Orbots.
“The market demand for the ‘space-as-a-service’ business model is truly exciting. The team here at Rogue is bringing these ideas into reality,” said Jeromy Grimmett, Founder and CEO of Rogue Space. “In-space construction companies, satellite operators and the like enjoy the speed and flexibility Rogue is able to offer them. This mission is a game-changer in the orbital services and infrastructure industry, the first of its kind, and this is just the beginning. We are extraordinarily pleased and honored to support Orbital Assembly’s Mission with our Orbots™.”
“Orbital Assembly Corporation is excited to partner with Rogue Space Systems as this financial agreement enables us to begin deploying structures with artificial gravity in orbit,” said Rhonda Stevenson, CEO of Orbital Assembly Corporation. “Rogue’s array of versatile systems will allow us to be flexible and adaptive during our missions and enable us to speed our time to market.
The agreement is to provide observation and inspection services to OAC. Rogue’s Orbots™ will be launched along with the components of the OAC structure. Once the launch vehicle reaches the deployment location, the Orbots™ will take position to monitor and potentially assist structure deployment. After deployment, the Orbots™ will perch in various stand-off locations around to record the complete demonstration.
