Rogue Space Systems Announces Its Fourth Phase II SBIR AWARD 1024 900 Jamie Drooger

Rogue continues to advance its methods and technologies in orbital maneuvering optimization.

Rogue Space Systems Corporation is proud to announce its latest SBIR contract through the SpaceWERX SBIR program with its development of optimized guidance and control solutions for satellite rendezvous operations to address the most pressing challenges in the Department of the Air Force (DAF). This “Direct to Phase Two” award for $1.25M will advance spacecraft operators’ ability to plan and conduct dynamic space operations with low-thrust spacecraft. This research will greatly benefit Rogue’s future in ISAM and RPOD services, creating a viable model for sustainable operations in space.

“Rogue’s planned use of electric propulsion has to be efficient and enable a maneuver-without-regret [concept of operations], and these operations will get Rogue there and allow us to offer cost effective and responsive space services.”

Peter Ha, Project Lead and lead propulsion engineer.

The Air Force Research Laboratory and SpaceWERX, the innovation arm of the U.S. Space Force and a unique division within AFWERX, have partnered to streamline the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) process by accelerating the small business experience through faster proposal to award timelines, changing the pool of potential applicants by expanding opportunities to small business and eliminating bureaucratic overhead by continually implementing process improvement changes in contract execution. The DAF began offering the Open Topic SBIR/STTR program in 2018 which expanded the range of innovations the DAF funded and now with this February 2024 Phase II award, Rogue Space Systems continues its journey to create and provide innovative capabilities that will strengthen the national defense of the United States of America. This is just one of several technical areas Rogue has won research awards through the SBIR/STTR system and Rogue is grateful for this vehicle as it benefits the US space industry for government and commercial purposes.
