Jeromy Grimmett, Founder and CEO of Rogue Space Systems Corporation, a company focused on designing satellite vehicles and subsystems to provide on-orbit services to satellite operators both now and well into the future, joins Builder Nation’s Podcast host Elisa Muñoz to share his experience in the industry.
Jeromy Grimmett is the CEO of Rogue Space Systems, a company dedicated to building real life “R2D2s,” if a Star Wars fan, or “Exocomps” if you are a Star Trek fan. At Rogue, they call them Orbots (Orbital Robots)!
Growing up in South Louisiana, Jeromy was always a tinkerer and a modeler, but it wasn’t until he attended the MIT Space Conference in 2019 that he realized space was closer than he thought. After attending the conference, Jeromy decided to start a business and leave it all on the field.
With the help of his family and friends, he has been able to build a community of people dedicated to building space robots and making space accessible to everyone. He has had to overcome supply chain issues and has recently received a license to launch in November.
His advice for future entrepreneurs is to build community and never be the smartest person in the room, but make sure the smartest person in the room is working for you!
Rogue Space Systems Corporation
Rogue Space Systems Corporation is now on track to launch their first spacecraft in June 2023, with 2 more spacecraft planned for October the same year. These launches will be a huge milestone for the company and will help them continue to strive in their mission to help make space exploration and sustainability more accessible to all.
Their goal is to help people understand that space is much closer than they think and that they can be a part of the space experience. To this end, they are building their Orbots.
With a team of engineers, they are developing their technology and driving the delivery of their systems to space for demonstrations and testing at a rapid pace. Despite supply chain issues, they are pushing forward and encouraging people to join their community and be part of the adventure.
“Do not ever be the smartest in the room. That is like the worst thing ever. That is a bad place to be because that’s when those blind spots are going to get you. That is the number one advice my dad gave me: Don’t ever be the smartest guy in the room. Instead, make sure the smartest guy in the room is working with you” – Jeromy Grimmett
